Introduction Born along the Line of Lode in the far west NSW mining city of Broken Hill, I'm happiest in the darkness of a cinema or snooker hall, but also quite content on a tennis court or golf course. I believed Steve Martin when he said in Grand Canyon that “all of life’s riddles are answered in the movies” - and I've spent the past 30 years checking if that's true. More than anything else, I'm defined by the movies and television I've watched, the books I've read and the doodles I've doodled.
Interests Playing and watching tennis, golf and snooker (vale Whispering Ted Lowe). Post-1969 American, British and Australian cinema. American, English and Irish crime fiction from late 20th century onwards. Following current affairs (I still care, but it's increasingly hard).
Favorite Movies Movies: Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, Blade Runner, Pulp Fiction, Star Wars, Apocalpse Now, The Godfather. British TV: Callan, Spooks, When The Boat Comes In, Inspector Morse. American TV: The Sopranos, West Wing, The Wire, Deadwood, True Blood, Six Feet Under, Hill Street Blues.
Favorite Music Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, The Band, ABBA (go figure!). If it was written in the 1960s and 1970s, chances are I like it.
Favorite Books Spies, crime and dark humour, as personified by John Le Carre, Ken Bruen, James Ellroy, John Irving and Joseph Heller.
