| Introduction | I am a Certified Nurse-Midwife in private practice who has delivered over 1,500 babies vaginally and assisted on another 1000 or so cesarean deliveries. And YES! I provide midwifery care, this means I am "with woman", I stay with my Moms in labor. Yes, I help with dealing with the pain and panic of labor with lots of non-pharmacologic interventions. Yes, medication is an option if the birth mother desires, even epidurals, because I deliver in a hospital setting where they are available. I am the mother of two. Grandmother of four. Wife of one wonderful man with whom I have shared life for a while and it seems like we only met yesterday. I still love him lots. I work way too much but haven't found a way to meet my mental needs for excitement that works as well as birthing (I'm a committed adrenaline junky.) |
