| Introduction | I was born and raised in Calgary, and discovered a love of entertaining and hospitality in the seventh grade. I dropped out of university when I was 18 years old because I knew that all I ever really wanted to do was open restaurants. I studied to become a chef, worked my way through Europe, became a certified sommelier and studied business before opening my first restaurant called Nectar Desserts in 2006. Nectar was a hit in Calgary, and I became well-known as a pastry chef. We made everything from scratch, by hand, and served our desserts in a cozy/hip environment along with carefully chosen wines and snappy service. I closed Nectar in 2010 as a result of a dispute with our landlord. Since then I've been working as a consultant, traveling and writing. I always have about 25 business plans floating around my head, and I'm always seeking inspiration and opportunity. |
