| Introduction | I grew up in a family of foodies. Cooking in the same kitchen with my relatives, it's like, you'd better nab your ingredients and pots and utensils before someone else gets to them and makes something else! We're particularly competitive with our biryani recipes. I have always loved going with my dad to the market - we would inhale deeply and he would say, Pranaya Shakti!, like, Can't you feel the life force? And indeed I could. The best were the various perfumes of all the different produce, like the way a ripe, sun-warmed heirloom tomato smells, or the tang of cilantro. I was put up to blogging about such things by a very internet-savvy friend, and am very grateful for the outlet she created for me! |
