IntroductionCurrently a Senior R&D Engineer at NetWitness Corporation (www.netwitness.com). Previously served as a co-founder of Proventsure (2007-2009), and Director of IDS R&D at Enterasys Networks (2000-2004), focused on exploit and vulnerability research. Developing the industry's first detection mechanisms for generic shellcode identification in IDS, steganography in IDS, SQL injection (before such attacks were well known), and nearly 1,000 other rootkit, compromise, and attack related signatures. Also served as the Forensics Investigator for GWU (2004-2007). At GWU, led projects analyzing thousands of computers for PII and policy compliance, and network detection of malware and policy and regulation violations. Academically, focused in the field of bioinformatics and pharmacogenomics. Served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Recon Marine in a direct action platoon in the 2nd Force Recon Company and deployed internationally as part of the Special Operations team of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit. Have developed a number of patent-pending techniques for detecting various types of data and activity in data in motion and data at rest.
