| Introduction | Catriona, who is known as Kate, was born in Dunedin, NZ. Kate has Scottish, English and Maori ancestry and currently works at Otago Polytechnic in Dunedin as a Senior Lecturer. She is working on a PhD thesis which focuses on efforts to revive minority languages in Aotearoa New Zealand and Alba Scotland, namely NZ Maori and Scottish Gaelic. Kate is married to Conway Dean, an artist from Perth, Western Australia, and between them they have 6 children; Jake, Charlotte, Torrey, Lachlan, Madeleine and Genevieve. |
