| Introduction | I am an avid gardener and knitter -- not at the same time! I live on a small homestead (5 acres) in rural north Florida in a 100+ year old farmhouse. I used to have dairy goats, bees, and chickens, but my only animal companions now are five cats of various ages. I have a year-round veggie garden and a small orchard, about 25 trees. The fruit trees include apples, peaches, pears, plums, figs, and persimmons. Other fruit crops include muscadine and scuppernong grapes, strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. The orchard is underplanted with daffodils that are a sight to behold in the spring! |

I listen to either classical music or bird calls when I am upset and want to get centered. |
| Favorite books | I read mainly fiction. Favorite authors include Jane Smiley, John Irving, Kurt Vonnegut, Anne Tyler, Margaret Atwood, Toni Morrison, Tom Robbins (especially his earlier books). Loved all of the Harry Potter books and have re-read Lord of the Rings many times. My guilty pleasures are the Anne Rice vampire and witch books! |
