| Introduction | I was born in Blairgowrie, Perthshire, where I lived until the age of thirteen, before moving to Edinburgh. I studied architecture at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee. Graduated with an Honours Degree in Architecture. I ran an architectural practice in Edinburgh for many years prior to a slight shift of emphasis and gave up architecture to do better things. I have always painted, inspired by the Scottish Colourists and the Impressionists. I was mentored by Alberto Morocco at College and am influenced by the dynamic range of artists active in Scotland today. I trained as a designer but was born as an artist. The images of the Scottish environment and the constant energy emitted by the changing seasons have always fascinated me. |
