| Introduction | As a new high school librarian, I am having fun exploring the world of teens, again! It has been a few years since my own kids have grown and gone, but it is all coming back to me in waves. The mood swings, the competition for attention, the anxieties.....phew! If they only knew how many people around them are ready and willing to help. I love the idea of the school library as a kitchen, not a grocery store. Trying to mesh that philosophy with mass customized learning (MCL), guided inquiry, learning commons and a plethora of other models. Somehow it all comes together. There are deadlines, policies, procedures, common core, data analysis, professional learning groups, advisories, department meetings, senior projects, oh my, oh my, oh my...talk to me in June. :) |
