Regina Onorato
My blogs
| Introduction | Who am I? Well, my name is Regina Onorato, I'm 19, from Northern California and I'm in Kenya before starting college. Here in Kenya, I am volunteering at the Seeds In His Garden children's home in Nairobi. I spend my time helping out with the 26 kids, ranging from 10 months to 17 years. My goal while I'm here is to revise their diet, nutrition, and daily menu through getting the kids more involved in their food. I will be doing so through a series of smaller projects: planting an edible garden, building a solar dehydrator, building a cob oven, and lastly, using those new resources to create a more diverse, satisfying, and wholesome daily menu. I have a passion for cooking and flavor. I am also a strict follower of the Paleo Diet, so you won't be finding any grains or legumes in any of my recipes, and only a very limited amount of dairy mostly in the form of butter. You may be wondering, why the crow? I chose the crow because it is a symbol of wisdom. They are thought to be guides to the developing spirit, and therefore seemed an appropriate symbol for the documentation of this time of my life. But mainly, I find crows comforting, interesting, and beautiful. |
