About me

Gender Male
Location La Conner, Washington, United States
Introduction In my other life I was a general surgeon in South Eastern Alaska. After I retired in 1991, my wife and I came to La Conner WA. I had always been interested in art, but had never had the time to learn. I started in oils at a senior center, but after a brief affair with oils became a water colorist. My wife, Betty, accompanied me to a water color class at a Elder Hostel program in New Mexico. We both were intrigued and quite literally hooked! We took many classes in water color, traveling with Karlyn Holman to Ireland, France, Italy, Switzerland and Bulgaria. All were fascinating places to visit, and the painting experience was great. I also have taken workshops from Don Andrews, Alex Powers and Bob Burridge. About two years ago I became interested in acrylics. I like the bright colors and flexibility of the medium. Bob Burridge's excellent class last year was a epiphany for me, and I have been trying to incorporate his insight into my paintings. I am currently working weekly with Dee Doyle of Dee Doyle Art and Soul blogspot. She is an excellent teacher and I am grateful for her help.
