My blogs
| Introduction | Upon arriving in India for a research project, I was neither most surprised by the squatty potties, nor the rampant livestock on the streets, but instead by the swastikas- everywhere. "Swasth" comes from the Sanskrit root for the word "well being" (think "est" in French or "es" in Spanish). Even today, Swaasth means "health" in Hindi. The swastik then, is a symbol of good luck then, which is certainly needed on the treacherous Indian roads. Thus, this blog is dedicated to my trying to figure out my life here and to learn to adapt culturally while making lots of mistakes. |
