IntroductionI retired to South Florida 20 years ago and have been keenly interested in its evolution since my arrival. I enjoyed a successful and varied career as an author, commercial banker, investment banker, city treasurer, investment adviser, NASD arbitrator, consultant, and university professor. My academic credentials include having earned a masters degree in Economics and a doctorate degree in Finance from a respected university. I have always been interested in economic history and been mindful of the lessons illustrated in Charles MacKay's epic book titled Extraordinary Popular Delusions: And the Madness of Crowds. Furthermore, I have always believed in the notable quotation by George Santayana - "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." In searching for an available moniker I settled on "Tarotster", which to me symbolizes the fact that I am an impartial reader of economic tarot cards. I believe that South Florida property owners are about to experience what people in the nation's oil states endured when the energy bubble burst following the collapse of the Penn Square bank in 1982. Home prices fell 26% to 39% in affected areas.
