Introduction	I used to work for the Government. Now I spend some time noodling around in public policy; rather more indulging a taste for the arts, history, Liverpool FC, hiking, cycling and other activity which keeps brain and body in some kind of working order. A natural sceptic I hope to live up to the Gramscian adage: pessimism of the intellect; optimism of the heart.

Rhythm and Blues (but certainly not R&B), Weird French pop from the 60s (female obvs), New Wave (UK), New Wave (NYC), Rocksteady and ska (UK), Post Punk (arty to actually really quite arty and early 1980s right up to now because it’s still alive and at least well-ish), Art Rock (late 80s/90s mostly UK), West African reggae, Jit Jive, Soukous, Wailing Women (Alternative), Wailing Women (Confessional), Indie folk, Britpop (New Wave influenced natch), Twee and Chamber pop (Scottish mostly), Post-rock, Avant folk rock, Jazz based on minimalism, Jazz based on traditional music, Up tempo jangly guitar based indie pop (mostly UK but a smattering of US), Electronic contemporary ‘classical’ of the kind generally performed in Hall 2 at King’s Place with a standing audience, Anatolian psych (contemporary), Quebecois, Baroque opera, Experimental of a Late Junction variety, More detail and examples can be provided on request.
