| Introduction | I am a 60 year old ex-con. I did 13 years in prison on what is known as the installment plan which means, in case someone isn't sure, a year or two here and a year or two there. I turned writer and published Mama Jewells which describes jail experiences and why I stopped and became civilized. Kids who are getting in trouble have been known to read this and have second thoughts about landing in jail. I have gotten letters from many parents, telling me that their young child, who only reads comic books, has read the whole book. Even some Christians, who think I am a heathenish villian, have turned a blind eye to the bad language and the prison situations because at least they're reading a book and maybe they will wise up to what they're in for if they stay on a destructive path.
