| Introduction | As little kids everybody would have tried to plant a tiny sapling found somewhere on the ground or a tiny branch plucked from a nearby bush with a hope that this would grow as a big tree. As we grow our priorities in life change. But there are some children who continue their passion for tree planting as adults. One such person who continues his journey by contributing his efforts to make our environment green and beautiful is US Moinuddin. Born and brought up in Bangalore, he has been promoting tree planting from more than two decades. To make tree planting easier and more practical, he started a movement called ‘One Tree by One Person’ in the year 2002 . Subsequently, it became a Global Movement involving people of all age groups. “The population of Bangalore is 85 lakhs and if every individual plants a sapling and takes care of it, there would be 85 lakh trees to the ones that already exist. If every Indian plants a sapling, there would be 122 crore trees. The same holds true to every city and every nation across the globe.” says US Moinuddin. This movement is set to make barren lands productive, the deserts green and the Earth a greener place to live in. |
