| Introduction | Damian earned his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from the University of Saint Mary and was an original member of Social Theatre of Kansas City and co-founder of Full Circle Theatre Company. Many themes found in his plays are generated through the principles of Theatre of the Oppressed and his belief that theatre has the opportunity to “enlighten and transform.” His efforts with HIV/AIDS, LGBT rights, child advocacy, religion and faith, the severely impoverished, and homelessness are reflected in his works. He is a founding member of Writing Out Loud and has served on the board for Theatre for Young America (TYA), both in Kansas City. He has taught playwriting workshops independently and for the Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre, served as resident artist at The Fishtank Performance Studio, and was a contributing writer for The Kansas City Star, Camp and KCMetropolis. He is a member of The Dramatist Guild of America, Inc. and currently resides in Chicago, IL where he will enter into the Novitiate of the Society of Jesus on August 25, 2012. |
