| Introduction | In 2006 as the final project for my master's degree (MLA - McDaniel College) I wrote a sort of mini-memoir - 100 pages of short stories about growing up in the Bronx, NY in a wildly screwed-up family, the overall effect of which led me to fall into, then evetually climb out of a dark hole of alcoholism and other assorted life ruts and holes. The piece was called "Middle Man." Writing the stories and digging into my past to discover who I was and how I got here became a bit of an obsession. My goal at the time was to graduate from grad school, then go back and write more and make the project a real book. That, of course, hasn't happened. I happily got my degree and kept right on walking and haven't sat down to work on Middle Man since. Hence this site. My goal here is get back to the book by working on individual areas of the memoir that were never fully touched on during the original draft. Here I plan to plant my seed again. May there be a garden. |
