IntroductionBorn on a US Army base in Germany. Early childhood spent in Iowa (Mom's hometown). Later moved to Arizona, where my Colombian-born (of Hungarian parents escaping THE WAR)father, Alav HaShalom received his PhD in clinical psychology. I am the oldest of four, lucky to have been raised in a loving, Jewish, 60s-ish home. My parents gave me their blessing to move to Israel right out of high school, where I met my Canadian-born husband. We do NOT advise others to do what we did; got engaged after one date. It was "Nevu'ah!" I am the biological and nurturing mother of five sons and five daughters. The question I am most asked (and have been asked since I was expecting "number four"): Are you going to have more? My real answer is, you don't HAVE children, you merely have the amazing opportunity to love them, guide them, and get them independent so they don't need you anymore :)
InterestsFrom the age of ten I wanted to live in Eretz Yisrael. This became a reality for me in 1981. I am a people lover; I love reading about relationships between man and wife, parents and children, the family unit and the wider community. I have had the great honor of "making" four "shidduchim". If you don't know what that is, it takes a little while to explain. Let's go for a Tully's. I enjoy interior design and fashion in as much as these "kaylim" (tools/props) enhance our lives as Jews and human beings. I love writing, but didn't have enough to say until I was 40, and now I don't have the time...
Favorite moviesUshpizin (I am basically willing to watch it anytime anywhere.)
Favorite musicLahakat HaMadreygot. I became a fan when they were already "Long gone" from the Israeli spotlight (The same thing happened to me regarding Jim Croche in my youth! In his case, he was LITERALLY gone.) Their songs make me cry while I make challah. I think it's a combo of the words and the soulful harmonica.
Favorite booksTorah, anything by Rav Shlomo Aviner, Netivot Shalom, and ( L'Havdil) Jane Austen novels, the Little House series, and the Anne of Green Gables series

How is an ankle unlike a consequence?

After walking around The Loop with my husband all summer, I can now easily see my ankles, where as I more often need to count to ten or "Sleep on it" to see, or foresee consequences.
