Introduction	Roger Friedland is a Professor of Religious Studies and Sociology at UC Santa Barbara, where he is conducting research on the relationship between love, sex and religiosity among young people. He is a Huffington Post blogger. At UCSB he works with Paolo Gardinali, an Italian émigré and Associate Director of the Survey Research Center on the survey research. He also teaches a regular course, Love, Sex and God. He started this work while teaching at the University of Rome, La Sapienza when the students asked him to explain to them about "hooking up" in America. He is also working on the fusions of religion and politics around the world, which all seem in various ways to be preoccupied with sexual issues: sexual modesty, abortion, extra-marital and pre-marital sex, homosexuality and evolution.
