| Introduction | I have been angry more days than I care to admit. I’m human so there is a world of pain to respond to, but in particular, I am discussing the anger that I have felt about the past and the impact that it has on my present as a black person in America. I have worn that anger well (at least that’s what I thought), hardly realizing how guarded that I had become about who I am and my rights in my country and the world.
But change has a way of exposing many of the things that we have been holding onto that we just may be able to let go of. It seems to be a new day . . . And in the aftermath of Barack Obama's election to the highest office in the land, I have to wonder how the deep-south will adjust and quite frankly, how I will adjust as I become aware that finally, there is “room for me” at America’s table. This is our journey, our process . . . —N.Fury— |
