| Introduction | I am an educator with a passion for finding ways to make mathematics understandable and engaging for students. I really became interested in math education after I returned to college for my masters degree in K-8 mathematics and we focused less on showing students how to DO the math and really focused on teaching them how to THINK mathematically. |
| Interests | I am a wife of one of the best "teacher-spouses" ever and mother of two teenagers: one techie and one maker. I graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana in 1996 and started teaching third grade in San Bernardino, CA. Since then, I have worked in Corona, CA as a 6th grade elementary school teacher, then in San Marcos, CA as a middle school special education teacher followed by a ten year stretch as a 5th grade teacher. Currently, I am teaching 6th grade single-subject math at a new K-8 school in our district with a Leader in Me, Music, Makerspace and Innovation focus. |
