Introduction I love to read. I read quite extensively in Kannada and in English. My favorite authors in Kannada are Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa and M.K. Indira. Other than that there are so many books I have enjoyed in our languages that I dearly wish I could read in English. I constantly rue the fact that the younger generations don't have enough love for our languages, and they are not learning our languages. This makes for a bigger generation gap than is normal and our young ones see us through a cultural lens that is completely foreign. I would love to have a library of Indian language books translated into English. I love history, specially medieval Indian history, specially the history of the Marathas. I feel there is not enough respect and interest that has been accorded to the achievements of the Marathas. And even though their history is as muddled and mixed up as that of medieval European history they achieved so much success and glory. It will sustain us and our children if only we can remember them with pride.
