| Introduction | You might think that you understand me, but you really don't. So don't even begin to try. |
| Favorite movies | The Shawshank Redemption, The Usual Suspects, No Country for Old Men, The Sixth Sense, anything Hitchcock, anything Scorsese (lots of F-words and always a kickass soundtrack). Seven. Slapshot. Blade Runner - Director's Cut. I finally saw Crash and was deeply moved and disturbed by it-fantastic. Anything that's a sappy romance is crap. Give me drama, adventure and intrigue - entertain me. Make me think. Leave the mushy stuff for the people who cry at movies. |
| Favorite music | Pearl Jam. Velvet Revolver. Led Zeppelin. AC/DC. Coldplay. The The. Van Halen. Zero 7 (yes, really). Tom Petty. Hendrix. Clapton. U2. The Smiths. The Cure. The Prodigy. Nine Inch Nails. New Order. Rush. INXS. Radiohead. The Hives. Should I keep going? |
| Favorite books | I read a LOT (like 100 books per year) but there are a couple that stick out in my mind for various reasons: Special Topics in Calamity Physics - Marisha Pessl The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay - Michael Chabon East of Eden - John Steinbeck Under the Banner of Heaven - Jon Krakauer Team of Rivals - Doris Kearns Goodwin A Good Walk Spoiled - John Feinstein (really, anything by JF is fantastic) The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. I recently read Catch-22 and was amazed by it. Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali was a deeply disturbing read and quite good. Blink by Malcolm Gladwell Anything by Bill Bryson is entertaining. Gang Leader for a Day by Sudhir Venkatesh - excellent. |
