Introduction	I grew up with images of a happy household filled with a half dozen children skipping about merrily as I gardened, and cooked, wanting nothing more from my life than to serve the happiness of my family. It's hysterical how the reality, after just two children, is so vastly different. As a writer, I can only respond to this conundrum of life by writing about it. I could easily gloss over the hardships and distresses of motherhood as something to move beyond and push through. However, the diagnosis of Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA)striking my 10 month old baby, and my family, made it impossible to ignore the significant and life changing emotions that occur when one is taking care of a family, and a chronic disease.
