| Introduction | Hi, I’m Ron. I am a student currently enrolled in the MLIS program at the College at Buffalo State University of New York. I also work at a wonderful public library that is part of the Pioneer Library System. I am using this blog to document my progress through my schooling and to share the quirky fun things I run into as a library clerk. I am open to comments and suggestions related to my future in the world of libraries. Why “library padawan?” Well, a “padawan” is: An apprentice who undergoes intensive training under a learned Jedi Knight. In many cases, the apprentice is referred to as a young padawan. My thought process for using this term came in three progressive steps: First off, I realize this is a fictitious word generated from the popular Star Wars saga. Secondly, I also realize calling myself a “padawan” is borderline ridiculous (not to mention unprofessional and childish). Thirdly, I realize that I am a colossal Star Wars fan that has no chance of ever escaping my nerd tendencies. So, I thought it would be fitting to put a piece of my childhood fantasy (becoming a Jedi by starting as a padawan) into my adult life. |
