| Introduction | I received a B.A. in sociology and urban studies from St. Peter's College, in M.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a PhD from Boston University, where I specialized in the sociology of knowledge, social constructionism, and social problems theory. My dissertation, a theoretical study of the foundations of the social constructionist perspective was titled "The Creation and Transformation of Social Problems: Social Constructionism and Social Problems Theory." I am a lecturer at Lehman College – CUNY, where I teach methods, political sociology, sociology of culture, and social problems. My academic areas of interest include social constructionism, culture, politics, and micro sociological theories. I am currently researching punk rock, hip-hop, arts communities, countercultures, and connections between marxism and ethnomethodology. My wife, Jolie, and I make our home in Beacon, NY in the Hudson Valley. |
