| Introduction | Hi, my name is Katherine Phan! I am currently a junior at Pinole Valley High School, and over the summer, I will be taking the Medicine, Health, and Society course at Vanderbilt University through the Ivy League Connection. Throughout the years in high school, I have grown to find that as I become more and more involved with my school and community, I develop unbreakable bonds with new and old friends who I now call my second family. It all started with joining marching band during my freshman year, which I am now the Assistant Drum Major of. I came in my first year feeling overwhelmed, but members of the band helped me overcome it all. After I received help, I realized that there were others who needed the same. I became more interactive in the school clubs, and now hold Vice President and Captain of the Forensics Speech and Debate Team, and incoming Vice President of Interact. I participate in community service by volunteering at the Senior Centers, working at blood drives, and demonstrating scientific experiments to multiple elementary school students. The Ivy League Connection allows me to achieve this dream and take it even further across the country, to the East Coast. |
