Introduction I believe that in order for our children to achieve high levels of academic success in the 21st century, “being average is unacceptable and failure is not an option”. I joined the United States Army immediately after graduating from high school in 1978. I retired from the army in 1999, after completing twenty years of active military service. I began my college career many years ago at the University of Maryland and received an Associate of Arts (AA) degree from Saint Leo University in 1999. I then attended Brewton-Parker College and later received a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. I completed my Master of Education degree at Cambridge College in 2005 and the following year I received another Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction, also from Cambridge. Hinesville, Georgia, is my home now and the job of an educator is my way of giving back to the community. The thought that something I could say or do to encourage a child to “be all that he or she can be” intellectually, is a reward within itself. This is what it means to me to be a teacher. It is a privilege and honor to serve the students, parents, and community of Hinesville, Georgia.
