Introduction | I am a forty-something professor who loves culinary history and the anthropology of food as well as cooking and baking. I spend two hours a day commuting and have two kids, so I don't get as much quality time in the kitchen as I would like. I'm also one of those working parents who thinks the family should get a good meal every night while simultaneously thinking myself virtuous if I get takeout for dinner only once a week. Follow me as I cook, bake, and muse about the latest cookbook or academic study I have read! |
Interests | Hobbies: Reading, cooking, knitting and needlework, travel, artwork, buying way too many cookbooks, swimming Academic: Women's Folklore, Anthropology of Food/Foodways, Culinary History, Medieval Women, World Religions |
Favorite Movies | Just about any sports movie, especially "Rudy, " which is pretty freaking bizarre since I don't actually watch or play sports. Go figure. I also like food-related films, especially "Tampopo" and "Babette's Feast." |
Favorite Music | I'll listen to just about anything except for Rap, mainstream Country, or Acid Rock. First love is classical music. |
Favorite Books | Too many to list. If I had to pick one, Lord of the Rings. Also love Terry Pratchett and Bill Bryson. Read lots of academic stuff for my job. |
