| Introduction | In July 2007, at the age of 8 months, Trey was diagnosed with infantile spasms. We briefly went though a trial of medications (Vitamin B6 and Topamax - which did nothing), and eventually used a steroid called ACTH which thankfully eradicated his seizures. He was seizure free and medication free for 3 1/2 years until that phantom bully crept back into our lives uninvited in January 2011. We were told there was a small chance he could develop a different seizure disorder later (small b/c he was and is normally developing and they found no reason for the seizures to occur in the first place). We NEVER thought these seizures would return because he was doing so well, but alas, here we are. They are not infantile spasms, but are now partial seizures. He has developed well despite any statistics we were given about his diagnosis. He has been doing great - developing right on track and above average in so many ways. We do have a few behavioral issues we are working through but we plan on conquering those as well. We are working tirelessly to get our little boy back to good as he was before. He beat these seizures once, I know he can do it again! GO TREY!!! We LOVE you!!! |
