| Introduction | I am a grad student in museum studies based in Indianapolis. I plan on going in to exhibit research and design in the fine art museum. Fine art museums are in a period of change. They are steadily shifting from institutions of preservation and display to houses of education and art making. Assuming that public education continues to devalue the arts, it is my belief that the fine art museum should be the institution to continue arts education. This will directly effect the idea of exhibits in the fine art museum in that the exhibits will have to become increasingly more interactive, educational, and focused on teaching.
