| Introduction | I'm a Ph.D. student at the university of Tokyo. I'm interested in the mind-body problem, which asks how and why certain neural process give rise to subjective experiences. In solving the problem I think we have to face a fundamental circularity in exploring consciousness because one cannot but use consciousness to analyze consciousness. I try to solve these problems by considering "tool-body assimilation" or an ambiguity of our body, something that is known in German as Körper (a physical living body) and Leib (a subjectively lived body) (Thompson 2007). I research these topics by doing computer simulations and conducting real human experiments. |
