Introduction	Fresh Kicks is a blog created by students of Young Chicago Authors in the Blogging New Media Class taught by Ciara Miller. Students read the blogs of others regarding sociopolitical issues and provide feedback either in the form of a blog entry, a poem, or in some instances (as witnessed through this blog) a standardized test. This class has been created to give agency to the voices of our youth and to discuss how they are impacted by the world around them. The New Media Blogging class promotes activity-based learning. Every Saturday, students release creative energies by reflecting alongside their classmates in a fun, innovative way. We read poems, study poems, and approach writing poems with a special twist. Hopefully this blog provides ideas to other teachers of creative writing courses and allows the youth to interact with one another in a way that promotes fresh perspectives!
