Introduction Curtis Moss, a lifelong resident of Burnaby, BC, is training to represent Canada at the Olympic Games in the sport of track and field as a javelin thrower. Pursuing this goal dominates his life. “I love to be competitive.” says Moss. “Throwing javelin allows me to capitalize on my natural speed and strength, and improving my technique gives me a new challenge every day.” For much of his athletic career, Moss has been coached by Don Steen, a long-time track and field coach and father of 1988 Olympic decathlon bronze medallist Dave Steen. “Curtis has what it takes to be an Olympian,” says Steen. “I have no doubts about it.” Taking a break from school and work “I don’t ever want to look back on my life and say ‘What if...’ I want to know that I made a decision to dedicate myself to something and gave it my all.” Reaching these goals would be a dream come true for Moss, turning 25 this season, but it doesn’t mean the work will be over. “My goal is to finish in the top 12 at the 2012 Olympic Games before I start focusing on being a member of Team Canada at the 2016 Olympic Games.”
