Introduction	Meirda FC originated from weekly kickabouts by fans of Sembawang Rangers Football Club in 1996. When the Stallions withdrew from the S-League, the fans wanted to continue to meet up regularly to play the beautiful game. They soon got themselves organised and started to play friendly matches with other teams. Over the years, the team's name has changed from Khatib Kangaroos to Shitfield Friday before settling on Meirda Football Club when the team first decided to play in the Amateur Football League (AFL) in 2006.
