Introduction I am a professor emeritus of cognitive psychology at the University of Toronto, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and a Fellow of the British Psychological Society. I do research on the psychology of emotions and the psychology of fiction. I am the author or co-author of some 150 journal articles and chapters, and six books on psychology. I am also author of three novels, the first of which, The case of Emily V., won the 1994 Commonwealth Writers Prize for Best First Novel, and the most recent of which, Therefore choose, was published this year by Goose Lane Editions. My most recent book, a hybrid of fiction and non-fiction, is The passonate muse.
