| Introduction | I'm a graphic designer, photographer, mom to four, wife and a double cancer survivor. I chose to list that last part last on purpose. I refuse to let cancer define who I am or chose my path for me. I was diagnosed in 2001 with a rare form of thyroid cancer called hurtle cell carcinoma. I underwent extensive surgery and treatment and came back a year later NED (no evidence of disease). I fell out of remission in 2006 and underwent treatment again. I had been in remission until 2012 when I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer. After a total hysterectomy I am doing well and praying for no more re-occurrences. My faith is the one constant in my life besides my wonderful family and without it or them I would surely have perished long ago. I am still here by the grace of God and through that grace I speak out to other survivors on my experiences with doctors and cancer and teach people how to take control of their own health. |
