| Introduction | Since 1991, Laurie Ann has been assisting individuals in the SSA application process. She served as a Consumer Benefits Case Manager and a SSD Caseworker for a Youth & Family Services & a mental health facility in East TX. She was trained by the Disability Determination Service (DDS) in Austin, TX, working along side them and District Social Security offices. The mental health facility was the first in the state of Texas to receive a one year grant from the SSA. Covering 8 of 12 counties, she assisted in breaking down barriers that prevented disabled individuals from applying for and receiving their much needed benefits. The program was a great success. She assisted in training other MHMR facilities across TX laying the groundwork for what is now the Texas Mental Health Mental Retardation Consumer Benefits Department. Laurie Ann likes to keep it simple. Meaning..she doesn’t like to use vocabulary that goes over the heads of those not familiar with the Social Security application process. With over 20 years experience, she is known for being assertive, thorough,and most of all, has what most others lack...compassion. Her motto? Get it right the FIRST time and NEVER give up! |
