Introduction	I'm a pianist and professor in the Boston area. This is not me. Neither is this. Curiously, these most Googleable Michael Monroe's are each musicians. This IS me.
Interests	I like to think of myself as a pianist first which has led to lots of accompanying; choir-directing; opera-ing; composing; teaching, etc. I used to play cello a lot and had lots of fun playing in orchestras; too bad I never practiced. I also like exploring other creative pursuits such as composing and arranging; movie-making; writing poetry that rhymes; and creating effective translations (yes that's creative!). I'm a big fan of the Red Sox and Patriots and to quote Jerry Seinfeld: "I could read the sports section if my hair was on fire." I spend way too much time at the keyboard (computer - not piano - alas) exploring the fine line between being creative and wasting time. I adore alliterations; elegant allusions; absurd nonsequiturs; and buffalo wings. I have a very patient and loving wife, and we have three perfect children.
Favorite books	I don't read nearly enough, but Douglas Hofstadter's "Le ton beau de Marot" changed my life.
