Introduction | My name is Gillian. I am a Christian, a wife, a mother, a writer and a speaker. I hold a Bachelors of Arts degree in Communications with an emphasis on writing from Moody Bible Institute. My work has appeared in Mom Sense magazine, EFCA Today and The Four Cornered Universe, a digital literary magazine. I am a Chicago Special Needs Parent Examiner for Examiner.com and have also contributed on-line to Chicago Moms Blog and Grown in My Heart, an adoption network. I am a public speaker. I have spoken at Roscoe Village Mothers of Preschoolers group in Chicago about loss and grief in mothering and at Napier Parkview Baptist women’s retreat in Holland, Michigan about giving birth to my daughter Polina and her diagnosis of Down syndrome in the former Soviet Union. I was also interviewed on WSTV 1400 and WNLK 1350 on December 16, 2010 http://vimeo.com/18119663, with Bianca Tyler about raising children with special needs. My husband Sergei and I were missionaries in Kiev, Ukraine for three and a half years. We now live in Chicago with our four daughters. |
