| Introduction | Born in a mining village of Kazakhstan, I had lived in Virginia with my family since age 5. I grew up in Dayton and studied at Eastern Mennonite University, developing interests in community service, research, and tutoring (mentoring/teaching in a broader sense). After graduating, I interned in Honduras and Peru (the reason this weblog exists). The four-month experience, besides teaching me a lot about myself and other people, increased my interest in public health. Completing dental training at VCU as a National Health Service Corps Scholar, I traveled to India before beginning a 3-year residency program at the University of Iowa in Geriatric & Special Needs Dentistry and Dental Public Health to prepare for my NHSC public service obligation in ways that effectively address the oral health needs of older adults, individuals with disabilities, and other vulnerable populations. “Keep me posted" requests encourage me to publish pictures, news, observations and relevant musings that may represent my current journey.
