Introduction Born in the San Francisco Bay Area, Andrew’s father, Al Gutierrez, was producer and host of a local television program. It was during sick days from school and the occasional need for a child actor that Andrew began his career. At the age of 13, Andrew purchased a Super 8 film camera, and began shooting short films. Upon completing a film studies degree from UC Santa Barbara, one of his earliest opportunities came from Luis Valdez (director of La Bamba and Zoot Suit). Andrew served as stage manager for several theatrical productions and 1st Assistant Director on the indie film A Soldiers Ballad. Shortly thereafter he went to work on the Warner Bros. film, Selena. After relocating to So. California, Andrew began to work his way up the ranks and has worked as a producer with some of the most popular and most prominent people in film and TV: Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Angela Bassett. In the beginning of 2008, Andrew’s short film, SHADOWS, was accepted to the International Family Film Festival. Presently, his documentary on the Fijian island, Tavarua, is in development.
