Introduction I am originally from The Netherlands and have lived in Lismore since 1997 with my wife Catherine, a public health nurse and native of Lismore and my 3 sons, Shayne, Martin and William and daughter Maeve. Before settling in this area, I spent 25 years in International Development Aid programmes in Africa and Asia in positions ranging from volunteer to Country Director. For 10 of these 25 years, I was employed in Bangla Desh, Tanzania and Laos by the widely respected Irish NGO Concern. I am a Labour Party Councillor on Lismore Town Council, where I am the current Mayor of Lismore. I was selected as the Labour Party candidate to contest the local elections in June 2009 for Lismore Town Council. I have a Masters degree in Economics and Social Studies and am currently self-employed in management and administration.
