Introduction | I fell into a training position in the Northeast Ohio area right out of college and have been doing this ever since. For almost 20 years I have worked in a variety of industries (retail, manufacturing, financial services, consulting) in a variety of positions, usually as an instructional designer or technical writer. I’ve written systems manuals, video scripts, job aids, quick references, e-learning courses, and everything in between (I’ve also learned how to run a TV camera, replace the bulb for the display in an ATM, periodic maintenance procedures for a medical waste incinerator, well, you get the idea). I also worked as a consultant, project manager and manager for several years at a training and documentation consulting company. Most recently I worked in a training department in a home equity division of a financial services company. I am interested exploring areas such as where our field is going, where it should be going, and how we stay relevant, ensuring learning experiences are meaningful, using new tools to enhance formal learning and begin to build on informal learning, learning about new areas of our field, and synthesizing these ideas into corporate environments. |
