| Introduction | I am interested in philosophy and politics, particularly the leftist politics in the West and the Muslim politics in the Middle East. They combine, i.e. philosophy and politics, to make each other intelligible and mutually supportive. I work for an ideal that philosophy becomes an indispensable part of politics in general and every political programme in particular. As was the case with our forefathers, many of the problems we face today directly from our political understanding of and engagement in the world: problems initiated, sustained and developed by politics. However, it does not mean that politics is the only answer to political issues. On the contrary, philosophy can induce relevant critical attitudes towards our political horizons. In other words, philosophy will seek ways to make it possible for most people to aspire to enlightening and emancipatory politics instead of belonging to obscurantist political choices devoid of any deep philosophical reflection that is being promoted nowadays under the various obscurantist covers. |
