| Introduction | What's very Shanghai? I got a Shanghai-based job and want to chronicle my experiences. I'm Howard. To the rest of the world, I'm a Chinese guy. To the Chinese, I'm an ABC (American-Born Chinese), though I'm really not. Since my grandfather is from Shanghai, and my dad calls himself Shanghainese, I am Shanghainese by association. Though after 29 years of being 'Shanghainese by association,' I am, actually, NOT very Shanghai. Now let's see if I can do something about that. |
