IntroductionI am Sajjad Abro, an anthropologist and development practitioner with over two decades of experience working at the intersection of society, culture, and change in Pakistan and beyond. I hold an MPhil in Anthropology from QAU, Islamabad. For the past 22 years, I have designed and evaluated social intervention programs in health, education, nutrition, poverty alleviation, and women’s empowerment. I have led assignments for NGOs/INGOs and bilateral donors. Yet alongside this professional journey, I have always been drawn to the deeper layers of history, society, culture, and religion. Reading and writing about these subjects is not a hobby for me—it is a way of making sense of the world I encounter every day in my development work. Through this blog, “Abro,” I share long-form reflections that sit at the crossroads of anthropology, history, and contemporary global realities. My goal is simple: to uncover the often-overlooked stories and patterns that continue to influence who we are today. If any of these explorations resonate with you, I warmly invite you to read, reflect, and share your own thoughts in the comments.
