Introduction | I’m a Baby Boomer who became a mother late in life after I was well along my career path. Now I’m not only a mother, wife, and writer for a major US corporation, but also a reluctant homeschool instructor. How did I get talked into this!? Forgive me, but I'm using pseudonyms; my kids would wilt with embarrassment knowing they are the subjects of a blog. I hear, “Oh, mom, I can’t believe you said that!” enough as it is. So I’ll call them Jacob, Alexandra, and Larissa. I began to homeschool my son in January 2008, but left the girls in public school until fall 2008 when they, too, joined the ranks of the homeschooled. I've been homeschooling a bit over four years, during which I came down with lupus and breast cancer - at different times. But God helped me through those bumps in the road. I'm in the home stretch with only one child still in homeschool and one more year to go... |
