| Introduction | I grew up in a small town in middle Tennessee, have lived in New York for most of my life. I still retain an intense interest in the comings and goings of the neighbors, which I think comes from having grown up in a little town. I love to laugh, and I love stories of any kind that involve people, bits of history, etc. |
| Interests | Movies, especially foreign films; reading; sewing; bad children; and Newfoundland dogs |
| Favorite movies | I could name a million--there are old favorites, such as "Talk of the Town," "The Minister's Wife", and "Bringing Up Baby". And then there are newer, more serious ones. I am particularly struck by recent independent films about women in Iran, Afghanistan, and Africa. They give us a worldview which I think is vitally important. |
| Favorite music | Always, always, always Bach--the Passions are my favorites. Also the works of Tallis and Vitoria. In another vein, I love bluegrass and folk--Peter, Paul, and Mary; and more currently, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings. Amazing things are happening. |
| Favorite books | Michael Malone, Handling Sin; Anne Tyler, St. Maybe and The Accidental Tourist; Flannery O'Connor--anything! I would also add Barbara Kingsolver's books (including the essays) and A Confederacy of Dunces; |
Try making up the rules to a game where you tie knots in a yo-yo string just to see if you can get them out:
Forget it!!! I couldn't remember the first thing about knots in a yo-yo string, nor do I care. I would just as soon try to walk my Newfoundland on a flexilead. And incidentally, I think flexileads should be outlawed and people who insist on using them should be placed on view in a stockade in the public square.
